Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities ("DPU") diligently pursues all available aid for facility improvements, including funding for mitigation efforts. The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program ("HMGP") had available funding to develop hazard mitigation plans, rebuild to reduce or mitigates future disaster losses in communities that reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards.
The DPU pursued, and was awarded, HMGP funding to install generators at Pump and Lift Stations throughout the City to provide these essential facilities with backup power, when necessary. These generators will aid in the health, welfare, and safety of the residents of Hollywood by ensuring consistent power is available to maintain the sewer collection system. However, costs for these items have increased since the initial grant application was submitted due to supply chain and shortage issues and the DPU now desires to modify the amounts requested and awarded to cover as much of the eligible expenses as possible.
The modification requests have been granted and the DPU now requests authorization to accept these grant modifications in the approximate amount of $290,805.00 which includes matching funds of $72,701.25.
