Explanation:

Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (“MPO”) identified the Dixie Highway/21st Ave corridor as a priority project within the Complete Streets Master Plan (“CSMP”) adopted on February 14, 2019.   The City Commission supported the implementation of complete streets for safe travel and access by all users utilizing varying modes of transportation along the Dixie Highway/21st Avenue corridor and passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2019-173.

Projects such as this, funded through the Complete Streets Master Plan, are considered federally funded.  Federally funded projects off the state highway system are delivered using the federally mandated Local Agency Program (“LAP”) process.

Since the Dixie Highway/21st Avenue corridor is a Broward County roadway, the final permit authority rests with Broward County and its agencies. The project will be constructed within Broward County right of way.  As a result, Broward County has requested that the City of Hollywood endorse Broward County to administer and deliver this project under LAP guidelines.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
