Explanation:
The 2007 Water System Master Plan recommended the replacement of aging infrastructure throughout the City. The Citywide Water Main Replacement Program, based on the 2007 Master Plan recommendations, identified several areas within the city where water distribution infrastructure replacement was needed. One of the areas identified was Hollywood Boulevard from North 21st to 19th Avenue.
The Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") has a plan in place to improve Hollywood Boulevard between North 21st Avenue and Young Circle to enhance the corridor aesthetic and pedestrian experience through the Hollywood Boulevard Streetscape project. The Department of Public Utilities ("Department") and the CRA determined that it would be more cost-effective and less disruptive to incorporate the aforementioned Hollywood Boulevard water main replacement into the Hollywood Boulevard Streetscape project.
The CRA received a proposal in the amount of $34,507.98 from the engineering consultant firm, Bermello Ajamil & Partners Inc., for the design and construction administration of the water main replacement. Construction of this project will be performed by the CRA's Streetscape Project contractor, Burkhardt Construction, Inc. ("Burkhardt"). Burkhardt submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price in the amount of $1,261,887.67 for construction of the water main replacement.
