Explanation:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts needs to replace the natural grass field located at Boggs West. The Hollywood Wildcats organization utilizes this facility for youth soccer practices, games and camps in the fall, spring and summer. Due to the hundreds of youth utilizing the field annually new turf is necessary to maintain a playable surface.
The Celebration Bermuda turf was competitively bid by the City of Boynton Beach, Florida (bid #033-2730-18/IT) who acted as the lead agency on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group of which the City of Hollywood is a member.
Mullings Engineering Services was selected as the approved service provider. Mullings Engineering Services will furnish and install 250,000 square feet of Celebration Bermuda at Boggs West. The Cooperative Group pricing is $0.48 per square foot for a total expenditure of $120,000.00.
Section 38.46 of the Purchasing Ordinance states the Director shall have the authority to join with other governmental entities in cooperative purchasing plans when the best interests of the City would be served thereby.
