Explanation:
The primary purpose of this Agreement is to enable both the County and the City to effectively collaborate, optimize their respective resources, and jointly administer and enforce airport zoning regulations as required by Section 333.03(1)(b) of the Florida Statutes.

The County owns and operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport, both located in Broward County, Florida. A portion of the airport hazard area, as defined in Section 333.01(4) of the Florida Statutes, extends into the municipal limits of both the City and the County.

Under Section 333.03(1)(b) of the Florida Statutes, the City and County are mandated to either enter into an interlocal agreement or establish a joint airport zoning board to adopt, administer, and enforce airport zoning regulations. In compliance with these requirements, the Parties have entered into this Agreement to administer and enforce the Airport Zoning Regulations as specified in the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Code").

City shall administer and enforce Section 5-182.10 of the Code and any related regulations within its jurisdiction concerning land use in the vicinity of the Airport, in alignment with Chapter 333 of the Florida Statutes ("Airport Zoning Regulations"). City is required to notify County of any proposed amendments to its Comprehensive Plan, Future Land Use Map, Official Zoning Map, zoning regulations, or Airport Zoning Regulations that may affect property within the Airport Hazard Area. City will also screen development projects that might have an impact on airport safety and notify County accordingly.
