Explanation:
National Preparedness Month is observed each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies at any given time. The City of Hollywood faces threats every year from hazards, including but not limited to hurricanes, tornadoes, terrorism, flooding, heat, and pandemics.
This proclamation is part of an effort by City staff to promote emergency preparedness and emphasize that it is the responsibility of every resident of the City of Hollywood to prioritize readiness and self-sufficiency for all manmade and natural hazards. The City is joining its local, county, state and federal partners in recognizing National Preparedness Month.
The proclamation will be accepted by Jaime Hernandez, Emergency and Governmental Affairs Manager.
The proclamation will be presented at the September 6, 2023, City Commission Meeting.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this proclamation will not fiscally impact the City.
