Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution

Explanation:
2008 Hollywood, LLC, owner of property located at 2008 Hollywood Boulevard, requests approval for a Marquee sign across the frontage of the Cinema Paridiso in Downtown Hollywood to enhance the facade of the building.

Many of the historical downtown buildings included a design element which structurally incorporated overhang projections over the sidewalk to protect pedestrians from the elements. The Marquee sign design for the Cinema Paridiso is an integral design component to the building structure façade. The Marquee sign design as brought to the Historic Preservation Board and received approval for the sign design. Although remote, the attached permit does preserve the City's ability to remove or have removed the encumbrance, at owners cost, should a public purpose of the right of way arise.  The sign projection will not encumber into Hollywood Boulevard more than four (4) feet and will maintain a minimum eight (8) foot vertical clearance over the sidewalk for pedestrian and downtown activities.

In consideration of the request, the owner will follow the terms and conditions specified in the permit, and indemnify and save harmless the City from any liabilities.
