Explanation:
The City Commission supports the completion of missing sidewalk networks and designated bicycle lanes along the City's roadway system to provide safe pedestrian and bicycle pathways to protect residents from the traveling public and provide sustainable alternatives for mobility and transportation.

On November 2017, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2017-334, which endorsed the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) delivery of sidewalk and bike lane improvements for the 72nd Avenue and Washington St Bike Lane Mobility projects ("Bike Lane Tree Planting Project") respectively.

Prior to proceeding with the construction of the bike lanes, FDOT required the City to execute a Highway Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement, providing that the City will maintain the roadway and improvements upon completion of construction which fall within the City's jurisdictional right of way. In addition, the City was to establish a contingency account to compensate for any tree removal mitigation and relocation because of the improvements from the FDOT's above- referenced bike lane projects within the City.

The landscaping construction scope of work for the project was electronically advertised on OpenGov on February 13, 2025, with the bid solicitation number IFB-283-25-WV Bike Lane Tree Planting project.
