Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department is requesting authorization to expend State Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds in the amount of $125,000.00.  A portion of the planned costs are associated with the training of law enforcement officers.

Additionally, The Police Department is required per Section 932.7055(5)(c)(3), Florida Statutes, to donate no less than 25 percent of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds during each fiscal year.  The funds are to be used for programs that support drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, and safe neighborhood programs.  Hollywood Police Department has met this requirement but is making an additional allocation to the Hollywood Police Athletic League.

Fiscal Impact:

The Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund received sufficient funding in prior years to allocate the requested $125,000.00. Funding will be made available in the Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget as detailed in Exhibit “1”, subject to approval of this resolution.
