Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:
Section 932.7055(5)(c), Florida Statutes, provides that agencies and organizations desiring to receive a donation of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds may request an appropriation by submitting a written certification that the donated funds will be used for an authorized purpose. The Florida Police Chiefs Association made a request to each member agency of the Broward Police Chiefs Association for a one-time donation of $5,000.00 to help offset the cost of the 2021 Summer Training Conference.

The Chief of Police certifies that the donation of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds complies with Section 932.7055, Florida Statutes, in that the funds will be used for an appropriate law enforcement purpose, the funds are not being used as a normal source of revenue for the Police Department, and the funds were not considered in the adoption and approval of the Police Department's budget.

Funding is available in the Fund Balance of the Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund (Fund 112) which is to be recognized and appropriated for the specific permissible uses as described above. The Chief of Police recommends that $5,000.00 be made available to the Florida Police Chiefs Association from the Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund pursuant to Florida's Contraband Forfeiture Act in support of the 2021 Summer Training Conference.

Fiscal Impact:
Funding will be made available in Fiscal Year 2021 as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to approval of this resolution.
