Juneteenth is also known as African American Emancipation Day and is celebrated throughout the United States and beyond. Juneteenth is a time for reflection, rejoicing, assessment, self-improvement and planning for the future. The celebration of Juneteenth unites people of all races, religions, and creeds through unity and understanding. A number of cities and states throughout the country have formed local committees and organizations to celebrate Juneteenth.
