Explanation:

The Police Department seeks to reconstruct and upfit the interior of the existing specialized mobile command vehicle. The upfitting for a mobile command vehicle provides workspaces to support the management of large-scale critical incidents and planned events. It is equipped with technology and structures that enable personnel to work effectively.

MBF Industries, Inc. provided the vehicle and serviced its upfitting in 2008. The average cost of a customized mobile command vehicle is $1,000,000.00 and takes an estimated three years to complete. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the City to maximize cost savings and time savings associated with deconstructing and upfitting the existing vehicle.

The Police Department obtained an estimate from the vendor of $579,820.98, which was based on a visual inspection. Due to the age and condition of the vehicle, additional expenditures are anticipated, and an additional $170,000.00 of contingency is planned to address these costs and upgrades.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this project was included in the amended FY 2026 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 335.209901.52100.564531.001609.000.000.
