Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities Water Treatment Plant requires an agreement for the supply and bulk delivery of hydrofluosilicic acid (fluoride) for use at the Water Treatment Plant as a tooth decay preventative in growing children.
The required hydrofluosilicic acid (fluoride) was competitively bid by the City of Ft. Lauderdale, as lead agent for the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group, of which the City of Hollywood is a participant.
The City of Ft. Lauderdale's Bid Number 432-11261 was opened on September 25, 2013 and was awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Harcros Chemicals, Inc. of Tampa, Florida on November 5, 2013 for a one (1) year agreement with the option to renew for three (3) additional one (1) year periods.
Harcros Chemicals, Inc. is currently providing this product to the City in a satisfactory manner.
The Director of Procurement Services is authorized to join with other governmental entities in cooperative purchasing plans as per the City's Purchasing Ordinance, Section 38.46.
The Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Procurement Services recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of the attached Blanket Purchase Order agreement for the Supply and Bulk Delivery of Hydrofluosilicic Acid (Fluoride) to Harcros Chemicals, Inc. of Tampa, Florida in an estimated annual amount of $91,000.00.
Award is subject to the City's receipt and approval of all insurance certificates required by the City's Risk Manager.
