Explanation:
The Hollywood Council of Civic Associations is awarding four $1,000.00 Pete Brewer Scholarships for Civic Involvement to very deserving Hollywood youths. The HCCA started this scholarship to honor one of there founding members ‘Pete Brewer’ who many in the City knew.
Mr. Brewer was a Civic Activist and the main criteria for the scholarship is that the student demonstrate service to the community. The other requirements are they must be a resident of the City and must attend either Hollywood Hills, Hallandale, MacArthur or South Broward High Schools. They must also be going on to attend either an accredited Community or four year College or Vocational School. Other information provided by the applicants G.P.A., school activities and so on also are factored in the decision.
The funds are raised primarily through our ‘Be Mine’ Dog Show held Valentines Weekend in the Hollywoof section of Stan Goldman Park and donations made by individuals, Civic Groups and Area Businesses.
