Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution

Explanation:
The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (Broward MPO) has reimbursement funding available from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through their Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to promote their "Safe Routes To School" Program by installing concrete sidewalks in existing street right of ways where sidewalks presently don't exist. The Department of Public Works wants to continue to expand upon the improvement of the sidewalk network in the area around Colbert Elementary and McNicol Middle School. In 2014 the City of Hollywood was awarded approximately $436,000.00 in TAP funding for sidewalks to be installed in this same area in FY 2017.

The Department of Public Works wants to apply in 2015 for additional TAP reimbursement funds which will be available in FY 2018. No additional funding match from the City is required. The Broward MPO requests a Resolution of Support from the City of Hollywood in order for the City's application in 2015 for TAP Funding to be accepted and evaluated for Ranking. If TAP Reimbursement Funding is awarded it would be available for construction in FY 2018.
