Explanation:
The City of Hollywood's (COH) Department of Public Utilities (DPU) needs high calcium granular quicklime for mixing with wastewater sludge in the Bioset lime softening process at the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWWTP). Lime is mixed with the solids extracted from raw wastewater to raise the pH, thereby inactivating biological elements, including viruses and bacteria, as required to produce Class A biosolids which can then be land applied.

On October 11, 2023, the City of Tamarac (COT) entered into an agreement with Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Inc., (Charmeuse) to furnish, deliver, and discharge high calcium granular quicklime. The quicklime was competitively bid by the COT, acting as the lead agency on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Group Cooperative (SFCOOP), pursuant to Bid Number 23-36B. The agreement between the COT and Carmeuse is for an initial three-year term from November 1, 2023, through October 31, 2026, with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods. The COH is an active participating government entity in the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Group Cooperative and would like to piggyback the agreement between the COT and Carmeuse.
