Explanation:
The City's potable water system consists of the Biscayne and Floridan wellfields, a water treatment plant ("WTP"), a booster pump station, and a distribution system. The Department of Public Utilities ("Department") is responsible for planning, regulating, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining it. An updated Water Master Plan is required to fulfill the Department's responsibilities most effectively, comply with regulatory programming at various levels (Federal, State, County and local), provide a high level of service to residents and customers, fulfill contractual obligations to bulk users, accommodate growth and economic development, and protect public health and safety.
On February 17, 2021, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2021-036, the City Commission approved and authorized the execution of the professional engineering services agreement with Arcadis U.S., Inc. to update the water master plan for Phase 1 in the amount of $728,745.00; with the understanding that Phase 2 of the update of the Plan would be presented to the City Commission for approval in FY 2022 in the amount of $537,140.00.
Phase 1 of the Water Master Plan Update is complete, and the Department needs to proceed to Phase 2.
