Explanation:
On January 17, 2024, the City Commission approved Resolution 2024-021 supporting implementation of the Community Shuttle Program (“CSP”) and the establishment of four community shuttle service routes within the City of Hollywood.
For the first time since establishing these routes, Broward County Transit (“BCT”) is accepting applications for modifications to existing CSP routes and schedules, with applications due September 15, 2026. The changes are intended to improve service efficiency, connectivity, ridership, and overall level of service while maintaining compliance with the applicable CSP requirements.
While a community survey is underway, the Department of Development Services, Engineering, Transportation and Mobility Division has identified the need to modify the Blue, Orange, Green, and Red community shuttle routes and operating schedules. The proposed changes are intended to improve ridership and help the City meet or exceed BCT's required minimum average of 7.1 passengers per revenue service hour per route.
On August 10, 2026, City staff met with BCT to discuss the proposed modifications (see Exhibit “A” for details and maps):
- The Blue: Hollywood Southeast Loop (BCT Route 764) would include a modified route, new stops, and increased service hours.
- The Orange: East Central Loop (BCT Route 766) would include increased service hours.
- The Green: Hollywood Southwest Loop (BCT Route 765) would include route modifications, new stops, and increased service hours.
- The Red: A1A Loop (BCT Route 770) would include increased service hours.
