Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities requires the supply of sulfuric acid, which is used by the Water Treatment Plant ("WTP") in the membrane treatment process to reduce scaling of the membranes. Membrane scaling greatly reduces water production and energy efficiency.
The required sulfuric acid was competitively bid by the City of Deerfield Beach, Florida acting as lead agent for the Southeast Florida Governmental Cooperative Purchasing Group (Bid Number 2018-19/22).
On June 5, 2019, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2019-156, approving the execution of a Blanket Purchase Agreement ("BPA") with Sulphuric Acid Trading Company Inc. ("SATCO") for the supply and delivery of sulfuric acid in an estimated annual amount of $430,000.00 for an initial three-year term from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2022, with three additional one-year renewal periods.
On July 6th, 2022, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2022-202 approving the execution of BPA PA600113 first renewal period of June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023 in an amount up to $504,000.00.
The Department of Public Utilities and SATCO desire to renew Blanket Purchase Agreement No. PA600113 for the second renewal period of June 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024 in an annual amount not to exceed $504,000.00.
