Explanation:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts (“PRCA”) was awarded the upcoming Florida Department of State African American Cultural and Historical Grant Program (“AACH”) for the Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Community Center Improvement project in the amount of $480,981.38.
The grant would be utilized to fund site improvements to both the interior and exterior of the Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Community Center. The AACH grant program does not require matching funds.
The Director of PRCA recommends the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to accept the ACCH Grant Program in the amount of $480,981.38.
Fiscal Impact:
If accepted, grant funding in the amount of $480,981.38 will be appropriated in the FY 2025 Operating Budget for the Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Community Center Improvement Project as detailed in Exhibit 1.
