Explanation:
The Department of Public Works desires to execute the second renewal of the current agreement with Waste Connections of Florida, Inc. which is set to expire July 3, 2023.

On July 3, 2013, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2013-168, approving the attached Blanket Purchase Agreement ("BPA") to Progressive Waste Solutions of FL, Inc., f/k/a Waste Services of Florida, Inc. and now d/b/a Waste Connections of Florida ("Waste Connections") in the estimated amount of $1,579,600.00. This was for an initial term of five years with the option for two additional renewals.

On June 6, 2018, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2018-192, which authorized the execution of a First Amendment with Waste Connections to allow for an interim contract. This interim contract gave the City time to evaluate its Solid Waste Disposal Services. After the evaluation was completed, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution R-2019-164 on June 19, 2019, which authorized the execution of a Second Amendment with Waste Connections to set the term and revise the compensation. This current contract expires on July 3, 2023.

The Department of Public Works would like to execute the second renewal period which will increase the solid waste disposal fees from $45.82 per ton to $61.81 per ton during this extension term. The new expiration date will be July 3, 2028.
