Explanation:
The Department of Fire Rescue and Beach Safety seeks to replace an aging ladder truck with a 2030 Spartan Gladiator 105-foot LTI tractor-drawn aerial apparatus to support fire suppression, aerial rescue, and emergency response operations throughout the City. The articulated design will improve maneuverability on narrower streets and in constrained areas, allowing crews to access and position the apparatus more efficiently at emergency incidents with less maneuvering and repositioning.
The Department plans to acquire this apparatus from Matheny Fire & Emergency through the competitively solicited Florida Sheriffs Association Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract No. FSA25-VEF19.0, effective April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2027. Matheny was awarded Item 197, Spartan ER Gladiator tractor-drawn aerial apparatus, at a base price of $2,207,560.00. Its September 25, 2026, proposal includes customer changes and additions, a loose equipment allowance, and applicable concessions and discounts, resulting in a total purchase price of $2,256,236.00. Utilizing this cooperative agreement allows the City to purchase the apparatus under an established competitive procurement process in accordance with Section 38.41(C)(5) of the Procurement Code.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this Purchase Order was included in the amended FY 2027 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 335.219901.52200.564520.001263.000.000 and 337.219901.52200.564520.001263.000.000.
