Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Hollywood Lakes, a historic neighborhood east of U.S. 1, faces flooding risks from stormwater runoff originating west of N 14 Avenue.  To mitigate flooding in the project area, the initial phase of this project will install a drainage exfiltration system west of N 16th Court until the much larger Capital Improvements Project is completed.

On September 6, 2023, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2023-277, which authorized the execution of continuing professional consulting engineering services contracts with eight firms for water, sewer, reuse, and stormwater infrastructure projects, one of the firms being Stantec Consulting Services, Inc (“Stantec”).

Department staff requested, and Stantec submitted, a proposal to provide as-needed construction administration support for these projects in an amount up to $241,060.00.  Department staff evaluated the scope and fee and have determined that the negotiated fee is fair, reasonable, and in accordance with industry standards.

This agenda item seeks City Commission approval and authorization for the appropriate City officials to approve an Authorization to Proceed (“ATP”) with Stantec for Work Order No. SCS 26-01 in an amount up to $241,060.00.
