Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities (Department) requests approval to purchase a new Kenworth T480 Dump Truck. This truck is a heavy-duty, single-axle vehicle with a 35,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating and a 12-foot dump body. The size and capacity of this unit will allow the Department to haul larger loads of material, reducing the number of trips needed for daily operations.
Acquiring this truck will enhance the Department’s ability to perform essential tasks, including roadway repairs, water and sewer system upgrades, limited stormwater improvements, emergency work, and debris removal after maintenance. The model’s improved hauling capacity and reliable performance are expected to increase overall efficiency, improve staff utilization, and reduce long-term fuel and maintenance costs.
The desired dump truck was obtained through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Florida Sheriffs Association on March 28, 2025, resulting in the execution of the Cooperative Purchase Agreement awarded to All Roads Kenworth, LLC under Contract FSA25-VEH23.0: Purchase of Heavy Trucks and Buses.
The current term of FSA25-VEH23.0 is from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2027.
The Director of the Department of Public Utilities recommends that the City Commission approve and authorize the issuance of a Purchase Order to All Roads Kenworth, LLC for a new Kenworth Dump Truck, with a maximum amount of $184,166.00.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this purchase is available in the FY 2026 Operating Budget in account numbers 442.400201.53600.564531.000000.000.000 and 443.410101.53800.564531.000000.000.000.
