Explanation:

On December 2, 2020, under Resolution R-2020-317, the City Commission approved the site plan for the Publix On The Beach mixed-use development located at 3100 South Ocean Drive. The property owner is 3100 Ocean Holdings, LLC and the owner is proposing to construct approximately 9,500 square feet of retail, 10,500 square feet of restaurants and 10,000 square feet of office space.

As approved by the site plan and in order to accomplish the purpose of supporting public mass transportation systems within the City, installation of a bus shelter was included as part of this development.

This item is to request approval of an agreement that sets forth the understandings and requirements for the bus shelter installation. Also, to accommodate the bus shelter placement within the project’s layout and avoid conflict with existing FPL facilities, a 12 feet x 10 feet bus shelter easement will be necessary.

This item is consistent with the City’s vision and goals to provide and improve amenities for mass transit riders. The Department of Development Services recommends that the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to execute the attached easement agreement for installation of a bus shelter as part of the proposed Publix On The Beach mixed-use development located at 3100 South Ocean Drive.

Fiscal Impact:

The City will be responsible for future maintenance of the bus shelter upon its completion. The estimated maintenance cost for the bus shelter is $1,500 annually. Funding for the maintenance of the bus shelter will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
