Explanation:

The Public Works Department desires to purchase two specialized emergency response trailers model 7x20 double axel for efficient storage and deployment of Tiger Dams in severe weather conditions and emergency response situations.

This purchase has been determined to be a sole source due to the specialty of the trailer and the Tiger Dams it will be storing and transporting. These trailers were designed to accommodate individual Tiger Dam units, hoses, pumps, and other necessary equipment for deployment events. The specialty designed trailers allow for easier access and faster deployment of the dams when time is of the essence during bad weather and flooding.  US Flood Control Corp. is the patent holder for the Tiger Dams interlocking bladder system, and storing, transporting and deploying the Tiger Dams is why the trailers are uniquely designed and why the trailer is the only one of its kind.

The Director of Public Works and the Interim Director of the Office of Procurement and Contract Compliance recommend that the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to issue a purchase order to U.S. Flood Control Corp., for the purchase of two specialized emergency response trailers model 7x20 double axel for a one-time purchase in an amount not to exceed $48,000.00.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this purchase was included in the amended FY 2024 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 557.519901.51900.564520.000122.000.000.
