Explanation:
The Broward County Metropolitan Planning Organization (Broward MPO), the Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”), the City of Hollywood (“City”), and the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”) are committed to improving alternative modes of transportation and support Complete Streets Corridors providing safe choices to pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders and motorists.
The City, together with the CRA, desire certain additional beautification and landscaping improvements to State Road 5/US-1 to enhance the corridor aesthetic and improve the pedestrian experience.
FDOT eliminated the approved designation for Transportation Design for Livable Communities which requires a variance request for FDOT consideration to complete the trees and landscaping scope as originally envisioned.
Landscape design services are necessary to develop conceptual plans for the proposed tree and landscape locations to support the FDOT variance request for the beautification and landscaping improvements to State Road 5/US-1.
The department of Design and Construction Management (“DCM”) and the CRA negotiated the project scope and fee in an amount not to exceed $32,920.00 with Bermello, and staff have determined that both the project scope and fee are fair and reasonable and in accordance with industry standards.
Bermello Ajamil & Partners, Inc. (“Bermello”) and the CRA have an existing continuing Professional Services Agreement for Architectural and Engineering Design Services for miscellaneous projects pursuant to Resolution No. R-CRA-2022-08.
The CRA will reimburse the City 40% of the total cost of the services in an amount not to exceed $13,168.00, as part of the services specifically relates to the Downtown District of the CRA.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for the CRA’s portion of the services is available in account number 166.668605.55200.531170.000000.000.000 - Contractual Svc (Plng/Arch/Eng).
