Explanation:
The Public Works Department is responsible for the management, maintenance, and operation of the City’s street lighting system in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Power and Light Company. The City’s street lighting system includes more than 9,500 streetlights and requires ongoing maintenance, timely repair, and strategic expansion to ensure reliable, efficient, and consistent service.
On January 28, 2025, the City Manager approved CM Memo PR-25-069 to issue a Blanket Purchase Agreement (“BPA”) in an amount up to $65,000.00 with Imperial Electrical, Inc. for street and sports field lighting repair services for the period from January 21, 2025, through November 1, 2026. The Department of Public Works now seeks to issue a change order to BPA PA601057 to provide additional funding necessary to support the continued expansion, maintenance, and repair of the street lighting system to meet current and future operational needs.
This enhanced investment in street lighting infrastructure will improve pedestrian and traffic safety, increase crime deterrence, and strengthen the City’s resilience through the hardening of lighting systems in targeted areas.
Fiscal Impact:
A portion of the funding for this change order is available in the FY 2026 Operating Budget in account number 001.500301.51900.531170.000000.000.000 and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ operating budgets subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
