Explanation:

The Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Department needs to purchase a LIFEPAK 15 (EKG/Defibrillator) device for the Mobile Integrated Healthcare (“MIH”) program.

The MIH program is committed to enhancing community health by delivering accessible, patient-centered care that connects emergency services with ongoing medical support. The goal is to improve residents' well-being through proactive outreach, education, and seamless access to healthcare resources, ensuring that every individual receives timely and appropriate care. The MIH program includes the Medication Assisted Treatment (“MAT”) program which focuses on combating the opioid epidemic in Hollywood through a collaborative approach that integrates the immediate response capabilities of the City of Hollywood Fire Rescue with the ongoing medical and mental health services of the Memorial Healthcare System and other care network partners. The mission is to enhance community well-being by merging rapid interventions with comprehensive care, paving the way for a healthier, drug-free future for all residents.

The LIFEPAK 15 device performs an electrocardiogram and monitors the electrical activity of the heart and is also a defibrillator for acute cardiac care response. It is designed for basic life support and advanced life support. The LIFEPAK 15 device will be utilized for the MIH program.

The City’s experience with the LIFEPAK 15 device has exceeded expectations and the device has been dependable throughout the years. This LIFEPAK 15 device has been the benchmark for pre-hospital care and the hospital setting. Most paramedics have received their training using this device. In addition, customer service from Stryker has also exceeded expectations. Operationally, the LIFEPAK 15 device is the best fit to meet the demands for the Department. Continued use of the device will allow the Department to avoid having to train staff on a new device that would take months to complete and will allow personnel to work with a device that they are familiar with and comfortable operating.

After evaluation, it is in the best interest of the City of Hollywood Fire Rescue & Beach Safety Department to purchase the LIFEPAK 15 device manufactured by Stryker.
