Explanation:

The State of Florida Division of Historical Resources has grant funding available through the Historic Preservation Small Matching Grant Program for the preservation and protection of the state’s historic and archaeological sites.

The City of Hollywood was awarded a Small Matching grant by the Division in the amount of $50,000.00. The purpose of these funds is to produce a Hollywood Historic Properties Survey.  Specifically, these grant funds will be used to hire a historic preservation consultant to conduct a city-wide historical resources survey of the City of Hollywood, including preparing a survey report.

Further study is needed to determine which structures, if any, on this list have merit for historic designation.  This grant will be used to hire a consultant. The scope of the consultant’s work includes:

1. Complete and submit five (5) FMSF forms, including maps and photographs, to the Division for review and approval.

2. Complete and submit one (1) electronic copy of the draft survey report conforming to Chapter 1A-46, FAC.

3. Complete and Submit one (1) electronic copy of the draft survey report conforming to Chapter 1A-46, FAC.

Once the contract is approved and executed by the City Commission/City Manager, staff will work with the Historic Preservation Board and the selected consultant to complete the deliverables of the award.  Grant funds must be expended by June 30, 2023, to be reimbursed.  Staff will work expeditiously to meet this deadline.

Fiscal Impact:

The City will receive $50,000 from the State of Florida Division of Historical Resources to fund a Hollywood Historic Properties Survey.

State funding and the allocation of matching funds in the amount of $50,000 requires amending the approved FY 2023 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to approval of this resolution.
