Explanation:

The City Commission approved Resolution R-2025-158, which authorizes a two-year construction contract for Citywide Stormwater Improvements. The contract is with Southeastern Engineering Contractors, Inc. for an amount up to $1,000,000.00.

 

Due to the volume of work completed during the first year, the Department is requesting a change order to increase the initial contract amount for Southeastern Engineering Contractors, Inc. by $1,500,000.00. The contractor has performed satisfactorily, but the original contract value has been nearly exhausted.

 

The additional funding will allow the Department to continue the drainage improvement program through the end of the initial contract term on October 28, 2027. Planned projects include:

 

                     Installation of 18" Wapro Valve - Holland Park Boat Ramp

                     Installation of 18” Wapro Valve - Holland Park Observation Tower and N Northlake Drive Cul-de-Sac

                     Installation of 24” Wapro Valve - N 9th Avenue & Buchanan Street

                     Installation of 36” Wapro Valve - N 10th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and N Northlake Drive

                     Installation of 36” Wapro Valve - N 11th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and N Northlake Drive

                     Installation of 24” Wapro Valve - N 11th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and S Northlake Drive

                     Installation of 24” Wapro Valve - N 11th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and S Northlake Drive

                     Installation of 54” Wapro Valve - N 8th Avenue and Polk Street

                     Installation of (2) - 48” Wapro Valve - S 8th Avenue and N Southlake Drive

                     Installation of 18” Wapro Valve - S 12th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and N Southlake Drive

                     Installation of 76 X 48” Wapro Valve - S 12th Avenue Cul-de-Sac and N Southlake Drive

                     Installation of 15” Wapro Valve - Jackson Street and N Southlake Drive

                     Installation of 18” Wapro Valve - Madison Street and S Southlake Drive

This agenda item seeks the City Commission’s approval and authorization for the appropriate City officials to execute a change order to the contract with Southeastern Engineering Contractors, Inc., and to increase the initial contract amount by $1,500,000.00. The new contract amount, including the change order, will be up to $2,500,000.00.

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this project was included in the amended FY 2026 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 443.419901.53800.563010.001315.000.000.

 

Department of Public Utilities staff will manage this project. No additional staff are needed as a result of this project.
