Explanation:

The City of Hollywood, through the General Fund Agency Grant program, historically provides financial assistance to non-profit organizations serving Hollywood residents.  The purpose of the grant is to assist in funding programs which provide significant benefits to Hollywood citizens via non-profit organizations whose programs align with one or more of the following eight (8) areas of concentration:

 

1.                     Early childhood education

2.                     STEAM-focused education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics)

3.                     Health, wellness or nutrition

4.                     Shelter and housing

5.                     Respite care and elder services

6.                     Diversity and cultural outreach

7.                     Training and career planning and development

8.                     Veteran services

 

On April 14, 2021, the Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB) reviewed 26 eligible applications for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 General Fund Agency Grant funding.  On April 29, 2021, a joint meeting was held with the Community Development Advisory Board and the City Commission where the funding recommendations were reviewed.  On May 12, 2021, the CDAB made final recommendations to continue the General Fund Agency Grant Program in FY 2022 and to award funding to the non-profit organizations listed in Exhibit 1.

 

Pursuant to the approval and adoption of resolution R-2021-244 by the City Commission on September 23, 2021, funding will be allocated in the City’s Fiscal Year 2022 Operating Budget to continue the grant program in the amount of $170,443.00.

 

The attached resolution seeks authorization for the appropriate City Officials to enter into and execute all grant agreements between the City and the non-profit organizations.

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this service is available in the Fiscal Year 2022 Operating Budget account number 001.116002.51300.582000.000000.000.000  The available funds will be allocated to the individual non-profit agencies in accordance to Exhibit 1 of the resolution.
