Explanation:

The Department of Information Technology requires annual maintenance on the City’s Fire House Alerting Control Stations, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software, and subscriber units (hand held radios) all of which conform to and are designed to be compatible with the Broward Sheriff’s Office allowing for greater communication with other cities and the County itself.

Resolution R-2015-352, utilizing an amendment to the 2013 Broward County approved master service agreement, approved a twelve (12) month agreement between Motorola Solutions and the City of Hollywood for maintenance of Fire House Alerting Control Stations installed at each of the City’s fire stations and Computer Aided Dispatch software for the period of October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2016.

September 1, 2016, the fourth amendment to the 2013 Agreement by and between Scott J. Israel, as Sheriff of Broward County, and Motorola Solutions, Inc was adopted for the acquisition of services and equipment from Motorola Solutions thus providing the City of Hollywood with the necessary agreements to purchase support for portion of Alerting and CAD Software.

The subscriber units (local government and public safety radios) purchased in December 2013, under R-2013-378, were covered under a separate manufacturer’s three (3) year warranty, which is due to expire on December 1, 2016 and requires additional annual maintenance agreements for continued Service

The attached agreement combines the needed maintenance for the items from both resolutions, R-2015-352, and R-2013-378, and provides the onsite maintenance for the equipment and software required by the City’s Public Safety users to connect to the Broward County Regional Communications Computer Aided Dispatch and Radio System for a period of October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017, and staff has deemed it necessary that Motorola Solutions continue to provide such onsite maintenance to maintain interoperability with other Broward County Cities as well as with the County itself for approximately $240,000.00. This amount will increase by approximately 5% annually thereafter.
