Explanation:

National Economic Development Week is scheduled for May 6 -10, 2024. This week provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of positive economic development and explain the role of the profession in our local community.

Hollywood’s Office of Communications, Marketing and Economic Development (CMED) team is committed to implementing a holistic and sustainable economic growth strategy that results in a robust economy and healthy neighborhoods which includes business expansion, retention and recruitment, entrepreneurship, work skills training, and corridor redevelopment initiatives and programs.  CMED works in concert with local groups dedicated to the enhancement of commerce in the City  of Hollywood including the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development, CareerSource Broward, Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency, Downtown Hollywood Business Association and Beach Business Association.

The celebration of National Economic Development Week gives the City an opportunity to highlight CMED’s many key accomplishments over the past year which includes the annual Business Survey and Visitation Program in partnership with the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This partnership with the Chamber and the annual joint business visitation program underscores CMED’s efforts to enhance the City’s business retention programming. This proactive approach to business retention will continue to provide the City with much needed economic data on our business community and help create and retain jobs while building relationships between the City, Chamber, and the business community. CMED has also embarked on a citywide commercial corridor assessment to position the City’s commercial corridors for job creation and investment opportunities.

The Proclamation will be accepted by Joann Hussey, Director of the Office of Communications, Marketing and Economic Development along with Marie Suarez, Executive Director of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
