Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Department of Public Utilities wants to purchase two replacement volumetric belt feeders for lime slakers #5 and #6.

The lime softening system at the Water Treatment Plant (“WTP”) has been in operation since the 1970' s.  With maintenance and rehabilitation, it can provide up to 22.5 million gallons of water per day towards the overall production of drinking water at the WTP.

Slakers #5 and #6 have proprietary rights of property exclusive to IMS. On September 13, 2012, Integrity Municipal System, LLC (“IMS”) purchased the Wallace and Tiernan Lime Slaker product line, with all worldwide rights, and is now considered the original manufacturer of the existing lime slakers at the WTP.  Water Treatment & Control Tech, Inc., (“WTCT”), as the sole and exclusive representative of IMS in the State of Florida, submitted a proposal for the two replacement volumetric belt feeders in an amount up to $97,503.00.  The replacement volumetric belt feeders with the same footprint preclude the need for extensive piping and electrical retrofitting, resulting in reduced expenses at the time of installation.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for the attached Purchase Order is available in the FY 2023 Operating Budget in account number 442.400502.53600.552240.000000.000.000.
