Explanation:
The City Commission desires to replace water mains where feasible to benefit the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the City of Hollywood. Department of Public Utilities’ (“Department”) staff determined that it may be feasible to replace existing water mains in the area bounded by Buchanan and Fillmore Streets and North 72nd Avenue and North 70th Way, for which area the City recently completed the design of a septic to sewer conversion project authorized by Resolution No. R-2022-316 and currently awaiting funding from the FY 2025 Department of Interior/State Tribal Assistance Grant Appropriations.
On September 6, 2023, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2023-277, which authorized the execution of continuing professional consulting engineering services contracts with eight consulting firms to provide professional engineering services for infrastructure projects, one of the firms being Tetra Tech, Inc. (“Tetra Tech”). Department staff requested a proposal from Tetra Tech to provide professional engineering services to include design, permitting, and bidding assistance for the proposed water main replacements and Tetra Tech responded with a proposal in an amount up to $193,700.00. Department staff evaluated the proposal and determined that the negotiated fees are fair and reasonable and in accordance with industry standards.
This agenda item seeks the City Commission‘s approval and authorization for execution of the Authorization to Proceed for Work Order TTH 25-03 with Tetra Tech for the requested services for this water main replacement project in an amount up to $193,700.00.
The design is estimated to be completed within ten months of the issuance of the Authorization to Proceed.
