Explanation:

The African American Advisory Council’s purpose is to keep the Commission and staff informed as to the needs and concerns of African Americans in the City of Hollywood. The Council is dedicated to being proactive in the organization and structuring of economics, employment, housing, education and cultural awareness in order to empower the African American community, as well as the City of Hollywood at large.

Members of the AAAC must reside or work in the City of Hollywood, be of African American descent, and/or have extensive knowledge and interest in the African American community.

Currently, the regular members of the AAAC are Bennie Barnes, Cathleen Dean, Joann Fullington-Reese, Henry Graham, Jacqueline Grant, Khadji Gregory-Faal, Richard Louis, Octavia Mills, David Rosa Jr. and Nila Williams.  The alternate member is Clarissa Reyes.

Regular members Bernard Isler, Carolyn Pitter, and Amanee Tyson and alternate members Dameka Davis and Tairon Aguilera were removed due to absences.

Regular members Cathleen Dean, Joann Fullington-Reese and David Rosa Jr. and alternate member Clarissa Reyes appointments expire June 30, 2023.

There are currently six vacant regular positions and three vacant alternate positions on the AAAC.

The Civic Affairs Administrator/staff liaison is recommending that the composition of the council be changed by eliminating three alternate members, as these positions continue to be unfilled, thereby establishing the current council composition with thirteen members.
