Explanation:
The Police Department requests authorization to expend $550,000.00 in State Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds to acquire equipment that supports law enforcement operations. This allocation includes funding for equipment and technology enhancements associated with the completion and improvement of the new Police Headquarters, such as the indoor and outdoor gym facilities ($275,000), ice plunges in both locker rooms ($50,000.00), partial funding for the Distributed Antenna System (DAS) ($60,000.00), and ancillary items needed during the transition and move-in process ($15,000.00). Funds will also support the purchase and outfitting of specialized enforcement vehicles used for aggressive driving and traffic enforcement initiatives ($110,000.00), including mobile communications upgrades such as Motorola handheld radios and a Starlink Wi-Fi system for the Mobile Command Vehicle ($40,000.00). These investments enhance operational readiness, staff wellness, and the Department’s ability to conduct enforcement activities effectively.
Fiscal Impact:
The Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund received sufficient funding in prior years to allocate the requested $550,000.00. Funding will be made available in Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to approval of this resolution.
