Explanation:
As part of Florida Power and Light Company (“FPL”) Pembroke-Lauderdale Reconductor Project to maintain and upgrade infrastructure, FPL is requesting the acquisition of easements on three City properties along with the partial release of one existing easement on one of the properties.
FPL’s project includes placing four 5’ x 5’ pole spot easements on the three City parcels to install four utility pole structures and to partially release one 2.5’ x 2.5’ existing pole spot easement on one of the three City parcels. The three properties include:
a) One Pole: 80B15A, Parcel ID: 5142 07 07 2510 (northeast corner of Washington Street and S. 56th Avenue, within Zinkil Park parking lot parcel, currently no street address associated to this parcel). Appraised easement value $1,200.00.
b) Two Poles: 80B15 and 80B14, Parcel ID: 5142 07 12 0680 (5451 Washington Street, within Zinkil Park).
Appraised easement value(s) $3,300.00 and $1,000.00.
c) One Pole and partial release: 80B12, Parcel ID: 5142 07 07 3280 (5596 Monroe Street, currently a City utility pump station property). Appraised easement value $10,600.00.
FPL is requesting partial release of an existing 2.5’ x 2.5’ for this property.
The City will retain ownership of the properties while granting easements to FPL with the rights for FPL to install and maintain the utility poles and appurtenant equipment necessary for electric transmission and distribution lines, including the rights to reconstruct, inspect, alter, improve, enlarge, add to, change the voltage, as well as the nature or physical characteristics of, replace, remove, or relocate such facilities or any part of them within the agreed easements.
This request is to grant easements on property the City owns. An appraisal was done for each easement area, identifying a total value of $16,100 in consideration for the easements. FPL will make a one-time payment to the City prior to execution of the easements.
Fiscal Impact:
The City will receive $16,100 from the Florida Power and Light Company (“FPL”) to maintain and upgrade infrastructure, and FPL is requesting the acquisition of easements on three city properties.
