Explanation:

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts in partnership with the   Hollywood Art and Culture Center (“ACC”) are requesting to apply for the Florida Department of State’s Cultural Facilities grant for $500,000.00.

Building an arts and education building addition to the existing Art and Culture Center building owned by the City was an approved project on the 2019 General Obligation Bond. The new building will have a multipurpose dance/drama room, distance learning arts broadcast and video/sound recording studio and classrooms for music and the visual arts. This grant funding, if awarded would allow us to maximize the GO Bond funding.

The DOS Cultural Facility Grant provides funding for renovation, construction or acquisition of cultural facilities and both the City and ACC have been successful in receiving funding from this source in the past.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts will partner with ACC to complete the application and support materials for this grant.

The required minimum match for the FY 2019/20 DOS Cultural Facilities grant is 2:1 or $1,000,000.00, for a total project cost of $1,500,000.00, and will be paid from a GOB funding account once they are set-up.
