Explanation:
The Department of Public Works has acquired the responsibility for residential sidewalk maintenance throughout the City and has been working with Florida Sidewalk Solutions, LLC., (“FSS”) to perform assessments. These assessments are at no cost to the City, and are used to identify potentially hazardous locations in three different zones within the City. This has resulted in the identification of a total of 2,298 potentially hazardous locations.
On September 16, 2020, the Commission approved Resolution R-2020-225 and again on June 16, 2021, the Commission approved Resolution R-2021-153 to continue with this sidewalk grinding program.
The Department desires to continue to retain this company to assess the condition of additional sidewalks within the City, as well as to provide sidewalk repair services. The requested services were competitively bid by the Town of Miami Lakes pursuant to ITB 2018-40 on August 15, 2018, and the term of the contract is from October 4, 2018 through October 3, 2021, with the option to renew for two additional one-year terms. The first renewal has been exercised. The proposals are provided under the bid's pricing, terms and conditions.
The Town of Miami Lakes awarded the bid to FSS and FSS has agreed to extend to the City the same pricing under the same terms and conditions as outlined in the Town of Miami Lakes bid and contract.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this service was included in the amended FY 2022 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 336.509901.54100.531170.000000.000.000.
