Explanation:
The Fire Rescue and Beach Safety requires nineteen (19) new vehicles to replace a portion of their aging fleet that are for maintenance and operational services.
The nineteen (19) new vehicles being requested are: One (1) 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe 1500, from Alan Jay Chevrolet. Inc. costing $34,099.25, eleven (11) 2019 Ford Escapes costing $246,246.00 and seven (7) 2019 Ford Explorers, from Duval Ford, LLC costing $201,061.00.
The Florida Sheriffs Association via competitive bid, approved and authorized the award of Bid Number FSA18-VEL26.0 for Police Rated, Administrative, Utility vehicles, Trucks, and Vans for a term, effective October 1,2018 through September 30, 2019.
Award was made to the lowest and best responsive bidder by specification, by manufacturer and by zone.
The City’s Purchasing Ordinance, Section 38.40 (C)(5) allows the Director to procure, without following formal procedures, all goods and services which are subject of contracts with the state, its political subdivisions, the United States government, other governmental entities, or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, provided however, the goods, and services are: (i) the subject of a price schedule negotiated by the state or the United States government, or (ii) the subject of a contract with another governmental entity or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, which contract is based strictly on competitive bids or competitive proposals and not on any preference.
The Fire Chief and the Director of Procurement and Contract Compliance recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of purchase orders to Duval Ford, LLC and Alan Jay Chevrolet, Inc., for nineteen (19) vehicles for Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Command Staff and Fire Inspector to replace a portion of the aging fleet for maintenance and operational services for an estimated amount of $481,406.25.
Funding for the attached agreement has been appropriated and exists in account number 557.519901.51900.564520.000234.000.000.
