Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities (“DPU”) uses sulfuric acid in the Water Treatment Plant’s membrane treatment process to reduce scaling of the membranes. Membrane scaling greatly reduces water production and energy efficiency.
The necessary sulfuric acid was competitively bid by the City of Deerfield Beach, Florida acting as lead agent for the Southeast Florida Governmental Cooperative Purchasing Group (Bid Number 2018-19/22).
The City of Deerfield Beach issued Invitation to Bid #2018-19/22 (#2018-19/22) for Sulfuric Acid 93% for water treatment plant operations. The bid was opened on March 7, 2019, and awarded to the Sulphuric Acid Trading Company Inc. (“SATCO”) for a three-year initial term with three additional one-year renewal periods.
SATCO has agreed to extend to the City the same pricing, terms, and conditions as in #2018- 19/22.
This Agenda item seeks City Commission approval and authorization for the execution of a Blanket Purchase Agreement (“BPA”) with SATCO from October 23, 2024, to May 31, 2025, in an estimated annual amount up to $504,000.00.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this BPA is available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget in account number 442.400501.53600.552330.000000.000.000.
No additional staff are needed as a result of this resolution.
