Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Department of Public Utilities (“Department”) uses a variety of motors, pumps, and related equipment for its facilities including 85 lift stations, 10 stormwater pump stations, and the water treatment plant, and wastewater treatment plants.  All of this equipment periodically requires specialized servicing.  Examples of necessary services include the modification or replacement of a motor, pump, valve, mixer, piping, gearbox, gauge, or belt.

The proper maintenance and operation of the Department's motors, pumps, and related equipment are necessary for the safe and effective transport, treatment, and control of water, wastewater, and stormwater.  Each properly working component is, therefore, necessary to protect public health and safety.

The desired motor and pump repair services were competitively bid by the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach through Maintenance and Repair services for Industrial Electric Motors and Pumps (Certified SBE Only) bid number 23-011/MB.  The Solid Waste Authority issued an Agreement with Tripp Electric Motors, Inc. for the period of May 27, 2022, through April 18, 2024.  This Agreement was sequentially renewed until April 18, 2025.  Prices remain fixed for the term of the Agreement.

Tripp Electric Motors, Inc. has agreed to provide the Department with similar motor and pump repair services at the same pricing as provided for in Contract No. 23-011/MB from the Solid Waste Authority.

The Department Director recommends that the City Commission approve and authorize the appropriate City officials to execute the attached Blanket Purchase Agreement for an annual amount of up to $300,000.00, with Tripp Electric Motors, Inc.

Fiscal Impact:

A portion of the funding for the Blanket Purchase Agreement is available in the FY 2024 Operating Budget in account numbers 443.410101.53800.546310.000000.000.000, 442.400603.53600.546310.000000.000.000, 442.400602.53600.552240.000000.000.000 and 442.400502.53600.552240.000000.000.000, and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ operating budget subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
