Explanation:

On March 3, 2021 the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2021-058, authorizing the appropriate officials to submit a pre-application grant packet for Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus Funds from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (“DEO”) in the amount of $760,335.00. The DEO submission requires the City to submit a final application grant packet that describes the proposed activities that are related to preventing and responding to the health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 health emergency, subsequent to a public hearing that allows citizens to comment on the final application grant packet. Staff recommends allocating CDBG-CV2 funds as follows:

 

1.                     Small Business Assistance                                                                                                         $250,000.00

 

2.                     HVAC Replacement Martin Luther King (MLK)                                          $340,000.00

 

3.                     Laptops for the provision of Public Services

                                          MLK, Washington Park, Kay Gaither, Driftwood                                          $  80,000.00

 

4.                     Wiring and Networking for Community Centers

                     MLK, Washington Park, Kay Gaither, Driftwood                                          $  70,000.00

 

5.                     General Admin. for Business Assistance                                                               $  20,335.00

 

Total CDBG-CV2 Investment                                                                                    $760,335.00

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

This item seeks approval to authorize the appropriate officials to submit a final application grant packet to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to fund projects/activities at a cost not to exceed $760,335.00.

 

If awarded, CDBG-CV2 grant proceeds will be recognized and allocated in the FY 2022 Operating Budget of the Special Revenue Fund to eligible activities.
