Explanation:

The City and the Broward County Police Benevolent Association have negotiated a successor Collective Bargaining Agreement in effect from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 (the “Agreement”).

 

The highlights of the changes include:

 

In wages, a 2% wage adjustment retro-active to the first full pay period on or after October 1, 2021 and a one-time premium payment (pursuant to the definition of “Premium Pay” as defined by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021) of $1,000 net per member paid on the first full pay period after the ratification date of this Agreement; 

 

In Article 14 (Health and Wellness Plan), an increase the amounts of the Health Reimbursement Accounts from $300 to $400 for Single Coverage; from $400 to $600 for Single + 1 Dependent Coverage; and from $700 to $1000 for Single + 2 or more Dependent Coverage;

 

In Article 21 (Work at a Higher Rank), effective upon the ratification of this Agreement, an increase in assignment pay for members temporarily assigned to perform the duties of a higher rank within the Department for less than 30 days from five percent to seven percent and Bargaining Unit members assigned to perform the duties of a higher rank within the Department as a long-term assignment, defined as 30 days or more, shall receive a 10% increase above their base rate.

 

This is a brief summary of the significant changes in the agreement. A full and complete summary of all the negotiated changes is reflected in the Summary of Negotiated Changes.

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for the costs associated with the 2% cost of living adjustment, $1,000 net premium pay, and increase to the Health Reimbursement Accounts is available in the FY 2022 Adopted Operating Budget.
